SUBCONSCIOUS UNIVERSAL CONNECTION
The "Mind-Body Problem," Death & Lucid Dreaming

PREMISE:
a). That the SUBCONSCIOUS MIND is the actual Core of our Being, not housed in the physical brain but instead existing as a dynamic, closed-system of information embedded at the level of Planck Scale Geometry within the Zero Point Field. b). Permanent, long-term memory is stored in the subconscious, while short-term memory is stored within the brain's grey matter. c). Short-term memory dies with the brain; it is the subconscious mind (with its long-term memory) which survives the death of the physical body.
...and Lucid Dreaming is the #1 most effective tool for personally validating the above three premises! Classic Psychology has revealed that MIND exists at two basic levels: the CONSCIOUS and the SUBCONSCIOUS/unconscious. This view melds seamlessly with the new, post-Newtonian model of the Universe which QUANTUM PHYSICS presents us--- a view in which reality is divided into two COMPLEMENTARY properties of PARTICLE (material) and WAVE (non-material). Within this Quantum view, wave-particle Duality is not seen as a system of opposites, but instead as two complementary aspects of one integrated whole; we possess one mind, yet a mind with two distinct 'phases of being.' And there is strong evidence that everything in known existence exhibits the same property. In philosophy, it is know as the School of Holistic Dualism. If we reduce physical size to the smallest possible microscopy, we arrive at what physicists call PLANCK-SCALE GEOMETRY [PSG]. Beneath this scale, size and space have no meaning. PSG is the ultimate substrata of reality, and populated by seas of energy, connections [entanglement/nonlocality] and conscious information known collectively as the ZERO POINT FIELD. It is the point where physical laws break down, and are replaced by the surreal-seeming principles of Quantum Mechanics. Here, also, (if one is willing to extend theory into reality) is where Science and Spirit meet as complementary members of our Uni-Verse, aspects of a united whole--- what physicist David Bohm called the 'Enfolded Order.' Within the ZPF, "things" don't exist, only connections and relationships do--- and these connections propagate through an information base many of today's top thinkers equate with a Platonic Fundamental Consciousness. To date, countless books have been written by scientists and philosophers exploring the mechanisms existing within this United Realm. In essence, it is the same 'Spiritual' Realm that Priests & Mystics have been recounting since the earliest dawn of Mankind. A few examples of modern visionary writers in this class, are (click each to enlarge):

Yet Stuart Hammeroff, M.D., author of FINDING SPIRIT IN THE FABRIC OF SPACE & TIME, deserves special mention for his scientific work and broad-minded efforts to bridge science and spirituality. What follows is a recent quote:
"I recently spoke at an atheist conference, which I called: “Being the Skunk at an Atheist Convention.” Richard Dawkins, Patricia Churchland and other atheists were there bashing religion. I said I didn’t hold with any organized religion, but that based on what we know of quantum physics and consciousness, we have to take seriously the scientific possibility of spirituality. Needless to say, they didn’t like that very much.
In defining spirituality I mentioned three things. The first was an interconnection among living beings, and the universe as a whole, and I said that this could be possible through quantum entanglement, the intimate connection between quantum particles seemingly beyond the limitations of space and time. The second was some kind of divine guidance or cosmic wisdom influencing choices due to Platonic values embedded in fundamental Planck scale spacetime geometry. And finally, there was the possibility of consciousness persisting outside of the body, or even after death."
