DREAM INDUCED LUCID DREAMING (D.I.L.D.)
DILD methods all involve achieving lucidity either from within the dream itself, or directly from a waking state of 'pre-sleep' called Hypnogogic Sleep Paralysis. This Chamber will deal in detail with six subsections of Dream-induced Lucidity.
This is by far the most popular & successful of the LD Methods, even having been adopted into the methodologies of Carlos Castaneda in his book, "The Art of Dreaming," (offered below -w- accompanying video). En Breve, this Method involves meditating on the hand during waking hours, in an attempt to 'program' the subconscious to recognize this Dream Sign when asleep. Many teachers advocate drawing the question, "Am I Dreaming" on the hand each morning, and then referring to it throughout the day, or simply by drawing a symbol or image. For details, review the Images and Video below.

This Method is a form of Meditation practiced through the falling-asleep process, so you pass directly from one state of wakefulness into another. It can be challenging to master, however, because one phase of falling asleep involves a state known as Sleep Paralysis--- and working through the related 'claustrophobic' sensations can be difficult. But with time and patience, the WILD method is the fastest when mastered.

This Method involves passing directly back into a dream you've just had. For example, how often do you wake up in the middle of the night remembering the "strange dream you've just had?" and briefly recalling the details vividly? If this is a common pattern for you, then MILD is indicated. The goal is to imagine yourself back in the dream you just awoke from, and hold that scene in detail long enough for sleep to resume--- but with lucidity this second time time. Some practitioners simply choose one featured object (like a ring, for instance) or a specific image from the dream (a person, animal, place), and focus on re-uniting with that.
This Method involves focusing on one sensation you hope to carry from waking to dreaming state. The sensation you choose can be any one of the five we normally have in common between the two Worlds: sight, taste, touch, smell or hearing. Select one you are most a-tuned to... the sensation of eating chocolate or pizza... the sound of running water... the face of your dearest loved-one... the feel of the wind or sun on your face... the scent of a Summer Rose... use your individual imagination; the more creative you are, the better the sensation will carry between worlds. Implant and incubate the sensation during waking hours, then wait until it manifests in Dreamtime... triggering Lucidity.

This Method is undoubtedly the oldest, and started originally as an Astral Travel or O.B.E. (Out of Body Experience) method employed by Robert Monroe, at the Monroe Institute. Over time it overlapped, and was applied equally to Lucid Dream Induction. The technique involves "building" a doorway/gateway image/trigger-sign in your subconscious mind, (over time), then waiting/willing for it to appear in a dream. Seeing your own gateway creation (or sign) in a dream state, produces rapid lucidity in the majority of dreamers. The final phase is to pass through your own door and into your own then-conscious Dream, or to see your sign and consciously realize you are in the Dream World.
The simplest of the Lucid Dreaming techniques, it requires only time and habitual persistence to achieve results. The only trick is to constantly ask yourself, "Am I Dreaming?" during your waking hours. Some people hold an object in their hands while asking this question (the object should be small, and something unusual in texture, and the feel of it must slowly come to represent the three words of the question. Remember the Wedding Ring in the movie, 'Inception?'). Others write the question on their bodies (hands, arms, etc.) so when they see it, they will be reminded to question themselves. Eventually you will find yourself robotically asking this same question DURING the sleep state. If followed, this Method is said to be effective in over 80% of all cases.
