INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC: "The Family of 4 Instruments."
As with everything mystical in the Olde World, the instruments played by ancient peoples were thought of as extensions of the four elements. The criterion they used to distinguish the spiritual qualities of each elemental sound, was ‘of the heart’ disposition. The resonant roundness of the drum, represented the Earth itself, and its tones, the foundational, dominant undertone of the family. The pulse of life. The Father. The shimmering emotion of the harp, represented the warm heartstrings of humanity; the vibration, the quivering moods of the family. The caring, love and anguish. The Mother. The brave rashness of the horn, represented the brassy impulsiveness of mankind; the overpowering voice of youth, crying: “Here I am, I exist!” The proud egotism. The Brother. The charming shrill of the flute, represented the melodious imagination of the race; the flighty, skilled song of joy. The brilliant tones of being alive. The Sister.
