THE APPRENTICE
"A true Magician
is brought forth as such from his mother's womb.
Others who assume the function
will be unhappy."

THE ASPIRANT... student... trainee... seeker... novice... by whichever name, the one seeking knowledge from an Elder Source.
He is known to every society and culture where Deep Knowledge exists, a strive'r for control over fate and fortune. Within the Pheryllt System, apprentices were drawn at a young age from all classes, united only by their rare sensitivity towards Natural Magick.
Once identified and accepted, the novice sets out upon a pathway of learning which could easily extend to one-third his lifetime, and may well become in the end a Life Occupation to end all occupations. The final goal was nothing less than mastery over the Inner and Outer Worlds.
But before being allowed to embark upon his Quest, the apprentice was required to swear by a three-fold code of ethics known traditionally as, THE TRIUNE PRECEPTS.
These Precepts were ancient beyond memory, even by the time of the Pheryllt, and have appeared in one form or another throughout countless ages of shamanic culture.
The prolific endurance of "the big 3,"is due to the fact that they truly embody the basic essence of 'requirement,' a tenet necessary to succeed at [any form of] shamanic mastery. Ethically, in any given era; adherence to 'more-or-less than these' three base mandates, has never been necessary. The Triune Precepts represent the basic distillation of apprenticeship-requirement, and are:
"To Know...
To Dare...
To Keep Silent..."
To Dare...
To Keep Silent..."
